Time flies with children. They were just babies and now they are learning to crawl and talk. Your child's development progresses, they grow and grow. And as we grow, so do the requirements. It is sometimes difficult for parents to keep up. From the age of two, children also change their sleeping habits, becoming more and more similar to those of adults. And so choosing a comfortable pillow suddenly becomes more and more important. But what requirements does a pillow for children actually have to meet? Here are some tips to choose a perfect pillow for kids
Hard or soft?
First of all, when choosing a children's pillow, you should pay attention to the hardness of the pillow. It should be just firm enough to support the neck, but also provide pleasant comfort throughout the night. Pillows that do not regain their original shape after pressure are unsuitable for children because they are too soft. Since children usually like to sleep on their stomachs with their hands under the pillow, pillows that are too soft can affect breathing. A pillow with a medium hardness that is neither too hard nor too soft is therefore ideal.
Prevent allergies
Many small children are allergic to dust, dust mites, mold or microbes. That's why when choosing a pillow, you should pay attention to hypoallergenic materials that help reduce allergic reactions. In this way, you can ensure that your child feels comfortable throughout the night and finds a deep sleep more easily.
Pillowcases for children
Covers for children's pillows are usually made of cotton. But be careful! Not all cotton is the same. Be sure to choose organic cotton pillows. Conventional cotton is sometimes treated with harmful substances that can leach out of the pillows. Be sure to check the label to see whether the textiles used are made from organic cotton. If your budget doesn't allow for organic cotton covers, you can also choose covers made from alternative materials. But then we recommend washing them a few times before use.
Which material for the pillow filling?
The filling material used inside the pillow is just as important as the pillow cover. You should choose a material that supports your child's head to prevent neck pain. The preferred materials for children's pillows are wool, cotton and lyocell.
At Hibboux, all pillows are made from natural materials and are therefore definitely the right choice for a healthy sleep for your child.
